14.5% – Stellenbosch. By Reenen Borman. A classic and definitely worthy of cellar space if you have it. Natural fermentation and malolactic fermentation in barrel followed by 14 months in 10% new French 225l barrels. Minimum filtration before bottling. Complex and attractive bouquet of oriental spices with pronounced violet and white pepper flavours. It has lovely ripe fruit and a perfumed background on the nose. There are also lovely integrated tannins on the palate. Well balanced wine with spicy overtones and a lingering finish. This is the baby brother to the much-lauded Epilogue.
Reenen also makes the cult, Sons of Sugarland Syrah and Patatsfontein Chenin Blanc.
