B Vintners Haarlem to Hope 2018 – another wine that proves that SA produces some top-quality white blends. This is a blend of Chenin Blanc, Semillon, Muscat d’Frontignan and Muscat d’Alexandre. A wine with presence, length, plenty of interest and one to savour slowly over a few days if possible.
Fledge & Co Jikken Barrels Sauvignon Blanc 2021 – from fruit sourced from Elgin and Stellenbosch, this is a sure win for summer quaffing. Light and refreshing with notes of crisp apple and lime and the barest hint of freshly mown lawn on the nose.
Roodekrantz Chenin Blanc 2020 – mainly tank-fermented with 1 barrel added for textural complexity. Aged on lees for 5 months. A soft, gentle wine with notes of white peach and pear. Lovely!
Fram unoaked Chardonnay 2020 – I’ve even had a few of the ABC crowd asking for some of this. Sleek, balanced and totally pleasing sipper.
Usana Pinot Gris 2020 – a refreshing summer tipple showing notes of pear, apple and honeydew melon. Pleasing roundness on the mid-palate with a fresh finish.
Secateurs Rose 2021 – this is a cracker!. Floral with notes of raspberry and sage, it has a creamy mid-palate and fine, dry finish.
