Bizoe Estalet Syrah 2015 – by Rikus Neethling. The wine will develop well over the next 5 years. It spent 17 months in 1st and 2nd fill small oak barrels. Satin-like feel with black plum and spice.

Velo Red 2013 by Wildehurst Wines in the Swartland. Each cultivar was individually vinified and barrel matured, expertly blended to produce a medium bodied wine showing ripe cherry and forest berries balanced with a hint of perfume. Blend: 57% Grenache, 41% Shiraz, 2% Viognier

Lynx Vino Tinto 2016 – The winemaker’s own blend of Cab Sauv, Merlot, Cab Franc, Petit Verdot, Shiraz and Mourvédre. Unassuming, well balanced fruit driven red blend.

Dunstone Stones in the Sun Syrah 2015 – soft and round, with plum and spice. The wine spent 12 months in older 500l barrels.

Eenzaamheid Cuvee 2015 – a hearty, sleek and comforting red blend of Shiraz, Pinotage, Mourvedre, Cinsaut and Grenache Noir

Rascallion 45RPM 2016 – a super easy and tasty light-medium-bodied blend of Grenache 36%, Cinsaut 32%, Mouverdre 26%, Tannat 6% that is delicious when served slightly chilled. Vibrant red fruit and a hint of smoky spice on the finish.

Esona Chardonnay 2014 – a small producer on the road between Robertson and Bonnievale. A well-rounded and delish lightly-oaked chardonnay (9 months) with its buttery taste will work wonderfully with grilled fish, including shellfish and chicken with creamy sauces.

Canto Sauvignon Blanc 2017 shows typical Durbanville characteristics with ripe tropical notes backed by herbaceousness. It has a crisp and fresh palate with well integrated natural acidity and a long finish.

Kaapzicht Chenin Blanc 2017 – unpretentious and super-tasty. Just the kind of wine to have on hand for surprise visitors.

Arra Viognier 2015 – a balanced wine with some weight on the mid-palate and a refreshing finish (1/3 wooded). Fresh Pear, white peach and Golden Delicious apple.

Bizoe Idioglossia Chardonnay 2016 (the name inspired by Rikus’ twin boys – idioglossia being the made-up language of twins). Spontaneous fermentation with extended lees contact and matured in barrel for 9 months. Delicate citrus notes with a creamy feel and long, firm finish.

Spioenkop Queen Manthatisi 2016 – named after the ruler of the Tlokwa people in the 1820s who fought against the British and ruled over 40,000 people at her peak. A sleek and seamless white blend of 92% Sauvignon Blanc and 8% Chenin Blanc. Fresh and zippy, with some weight.

Driehoek Sauvignon Blanc 2016 – this is developing beautifully! Notes of lemon grass, passion fruit, grapefruit & apple.

Wildehurst Cinsaut 2017 – from old dry land bush vines, fermented using wild yeast and kept on the skins for extended post maceration. Barrel matured in old French oak barrels for 10 months. The wine delivers a bouquet of luscious, juicy red currents and cranberries with hints of warm, sweet spices that add to the complexity of the pallet. A well-balanced, well-rounded wine with silky smooth tannins and a firm acidity.

Fairview Barbera 2016 – made  from a traditional Italian grape, this is meant to be enjoyed young. Soft tannins, succulent red fruit and a fresh finish. Works a bomb with parmesan chicken in a rich tomato sauce.

Gabrielskloof The Blend 2016 – fermentation and ageing took place in barrel and in tank. The main component is Cabernet Sauvignon (49%) with Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Delicate violets and black fruit on both the nose and palate with hints of vanilla and tobacco leaf. Fine velvety tannins. You won’t regret putting a few of these away for at least 3 years.
