The return of old favourites, The Foundry Grenache Blanc and Mother Rock White.

The Foundry Grenache Blanc 2015 R217/btl

The Foundry is a partnership between James Reid and Chris Williams (cellar master at Meerlust). The grapes are sourced from a vineyard in Voor-Paardeberg. Whole bunch pressed, the juice is fermented in oak barrels (some innoculated) and matured for 7 months. A classy wine with a rich stone fruit core and fine, grainy, textural feel.

Mother Rock White 2016 R142.50/btl

If you’re looking for a soul-less, clinical expression of ‘the grape’, this is not it. Plenty of texture and personality in each bottle. This is a blend of Chenin Blanc, Viognier, Semillon, Grenache Blanc and Harslevelu sourced from the Swartland and made by Johan Meyer. No added yeast, enzymes or acid. Bottled unfined and unfiltered and not cold-stabilised. Slightly cloudy if shaken, a harmless sediment appears as it settles. White fruit – pears/quinces/apple – with a mild yellow citrus note. Don’t serve it too cold & decant if you’d prefer.

Beeslaar Pinotage 2016 R480/btl

Winemaker at Kanonkop, Abrie Beeslaar, has once again released his very own pinotage. Stock of this is extremely limited, so grab yours while you can. One for the cellar, this wine will definitely reward patience. It shows perfect balance of fruit concentration and finesse.
