Our Wine

We had wine made at a winery near the Swartland town of Riebeeck Kasteel. These wines underwent natural fermentation and were bottled unfined and unfiltered. Minimal sulphur was added before bottling. The wine is available in the Gardens shop.

The Front Row Chenin Blanc 2014

Harvested at 22° balling. Balanced and appealing, this wine shows great purity. Ripe pear/ quince/ golden delicious apple profile. The palate is sleek and refined with a gentle, slightly creamy mid-palate and clean, fresh finish. Rated 4* Platter Guide

The Front Row Shiraz 2014

Harvested at 23.5° balling. The wine spent 12 months in 2nd and 3rd fill barrels. A medium-bodied and vibrant wine showing red fruit & curry spice with a hint of tilled earth. A sumptuous, satin core cradled by fine, grainy tannins and balanced acidity. Can be served lightly chilled. Rated 4* Platter Guide


Riverhorse Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot 2016

Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot

Sourced from Stellenbosch fruit and made by Orneglio ‘Meaty’ de Franchi at Monterosso. Fermented in tank and then matured in old French oak barrels for approx 9 months prior to blending and bottling. The wine spent 6 months in bottle prior to release. Sleek blackcurrant and anise with a firm, dry finish. Rated 4* Platter guide
